I am proudly Kanien’keha:ka (Mohawk), on my dad’s side, from Kahnawà:ke, and Euro-Canadian on my mom’s side. I’m a mom to one human and two fur kids. I enjoy living in the woods with my partner and my pups and spending time in nature, talking to my trees, and listening to the stories they whisper to me. I love to write stories and have bits of stories started all over the place between notebooks, computer files, sticky notes, and in my brain. I wanted to be a writer when I was younger, but I didn’t think that was a real thing, so I became an accountant instead. My desire to write has never left, and I’ve gotten a couple of books published over the years. I’m now back to reclaiming my dream of being a writer and putting that out into the world (scary!!), so I’m dedicating time to bringing all the characters in my head and in my notes to life. I recently started a publishing company, to publish my own stories and hopefully one day expand to publish other authors. I’m excited that my first book published under this new company was a collaboration with one of my brothers (he was the illustrator), and I co-illustrated one of my books with my daughter. I love my family, I love to dance (even though I have two left feet), and I love being a Radical Change Coach and working with crystals/energy healing. My favourite place to write is sitting on the rocks in Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, looking out into the ocean. I’m so excited that I recently published my novel, Finding Joy, of which more than half of it was written in Peggy’s Cove. My writing goal for 2024 is to publish 12 books in 12 months! As of October 2024, I am 10 for 10!
